குறள் 485:
காலம் கருதி இருப்பர் கலங்காது 
ஞாலம் கருது பவர்.
 உரை:
கலக்கத்துக்கு இடம் தராமல் உரிய காலத்தை எதிர்பார்த்துப் பொறுமையாக இருப்பவர்கள் இந்த உலகத்தையேகூட வென்று காட்டுவார்கள்.
Translation:
Who think the pendant world itself to subjugate, 
With mind unruffled for the fitting time must wait.
Explanation:
They who thoughtfully consider and wait for the (right) time (for action), may successfully meditate (the conquest of) the world.
